Woo-hoo! The Super Bowl is this Sunday! I'm a big football fan and never miss a Super Bowl.
Whether rooting for the Indianapolis Colts or the New Orleans Saints, I'm sure football fans everywhere will be cooking up some tasty treats to enjoy while watching the big game. One tasty treat that I make every year is Alitas de Pollo a la Valentina (Valentina Chicken Wings). A very easy recipe that you can whip together in a few minutes.
You may be asking yourself, "What is Valentina?" Valentina is a bottled hot sauce that we use on everything from eggs to a platter of fruit! Salsa Valentina is my favorite kind of bottled hot sauce because it isn't too spicy. It packs just enough heat to be enjoyable. And it has a slight sweetness that makes it all the more delicious! You can find Salsa Valentina in the Latin Foods aisle at your local grocery store.
Alitas de Pollo a la Valentina
(Valentina Chicken Wings)
Ingredients:
2 pounds of chicken wings
1/2 cup Salsa Valentina
1/2 cup Honey
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375º F. Line a 13 x 9-inch baking pan with aluminum foil.
Cut the chicken wings into 3 pieces by cutting them at the joint; discard the wing tip. Place the chicken wings in the pan and season with salt and pepper.
In a medium bowl, combine equal parts of Salsa Valentina and honey. Pour mixture over the chicken wings.
Mix well so that the chicken wings are evenly coated. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes.
Enjoy!!!

Looks delicious....yum. I don;t think I have ever seen this salsa Valentina. I have to try and find it.
ReplyDeleteThank You! The boys(husband & brother in law) love these, and salsa valentina is the only salsa that isn't to hot for me!
ReplyDeleteI found your blogs a couple of months ago. After I spent a month in Guadalajara, I was so glad to find Valentina here in Arkansas because it reminds me of Mexico.
ReplyDeleteJust made your sauce with chicken legs it was really really yummie thank you
ReplyDeleteLast night I made an older recipe of yours... mushroom quesadillas!
ReplyDeleteThis was one of the first times I've actually cooked, so I was very proud. They were AMAZING! I can't believe I used to eat quesadillas with just cheese. Thanks for this site. You describe everything so well, and I love the pics. (Usually cookbooks tell you the process, but as a beginner I have nooo clue what they're talking about!)
Thanks, Leslie!
How can I print this recipe above?? Thank you..
ReplyDeleteLeslie, what type of honey do you use?
